The iconic `pouf` hairstyles were worn by Marie Antoinette and celebrated topical cultural themes or personal events of the 18thcentury. Her `La pouf a l`inoculation` was worn as an expression of support to commemorate the king`s inoculation against the often fatal smallpox disease, and helped publicise the practice of inoculation in France. My 21st century version includes allegorical imagery depicting my hopes and fears during this time of deadly disease.
